 It is our pleasure to announce that the Jefferson County Republican Party will host the 2012 Presidential Straw Poll on March 3rd. All members are encouraged to bring at least one guest. By all means please invite as many friends, colleagues, and family members to join us in making this Straw Poll a well attended event.

Your efforts are crucial and greatly appreciated. There are many ways to help make this event a success. Here are a few suggestions: invite via email, face book, conversations at work, and even at church. For example, if we have our average attendance of 90 executive committee members and they invite just their spouse or close friend will have at minimum 180 people. Just imagine what numbers may show up if we invite maybe two or even four people per member. In 2010, the Jefferson County Straw Poll was able to sell over 220 tickets and with the purchases of ads, tables, and sponsorships we raised over $28,000. The funds allowed for our successful efforts in voter registration, phone banks, media, headquarters operation and ballot security.
The 2012 Straw Poll has the potential of drawing more interest and attendance since traditionally more individuals show interest in a presidential year. This event may have the attendance of our four remaining presidential candidates: Newt Gingrich, Mitt Romney, Rick Santorum, and Ron Paul, but most importantly you’ll have an opportunity to meet and show your support for our republican candidates running for county and statewide positions.

A ticket order form is attached.  Tickets may also be purchased at the event.

Where:    Trussville Civic Center (5381 Trussville Clay Road)
Time:      11:00 AM – 3:00 PM (following the Executive Committee meeting)
Cost:       $25.00 an adult ticket and $12.00 for kids under 18 (includes BBQ lunch)

Guidelines for Straw Poll
1. 1 ticket equals 1 vote. One vote per person.
2. No one under 18 will be allowed to vote.
3. All Republican Party Clubs may purchase a table for $50.
4. All candidates can purchase a table to use for campaign material for $50.
5. All Candidates will be allowed to purchase advertising in the program ranging from $125-$500.
6. All candidates are encouraged to campaign during the Straw Poll.
